Doechii, a rapper and singer/songwriter from Florida, recently released a new song with the catchy title “What It Is (Block Boy),” featuring Kodak Black.
Doechii collaborated with Kodak Black on “What It Is (Block Boy)” after winning Billboard’s Women in Music Rising Star Award.
“What It Is,” Doechii’s 2023 debut, shows why Top Dawg signed her. Doechii released a cinematic music video for the track. She called herself and Kodak “Florida royalty” before release.
The TDE-signed rapper has one major non-music project coming out, but the song’s origins are unknown. Earth Mama, a coming-of-age film by director-writer Savanah Leaf, will star her. Doechii will star with Tia Nomore, Keta Price, Erika Alexander, Bokeem Woodbine, and fellow musician Dominic Fike. She’ll play Pharrell’s Something in the Water Festival in Virginia Beach next month.
